Where to Get the VHS Player

Answer. Return Beartha's device for the black rose, talk to Debbie and use the rose on Rosie's grave for the VHS player. At night, inspect the beach hole for the room clue. Match the day/night dollhouse, take the tape from the night room, then connect the player in the leftmost house at night and insert the tape.

The VHS player and tape are different items. The Basic Text Walkthrough gives the player as the black-rose grave reward, while the tape comes from the night dollhouse after changing its daytime counterpart. The Misery Town projector is a separate device.

  1. VHS player. Finish the black rose chain.
  2. Tape. Inspect the beach hole at night, then change the bowl, microwave, window, TV and fan in the day dollhouse to match that clue. Collect the tape in the night room.
  3. TV. Enter the leftmost Timesville house at night. Place the VHS player, connect the wires, insert the tape and watch.

Match the dollhouse

In the day room, push the bowl left; strike the microwave mouth until food lands in the bowl and close it; brush the teeth until the mouth window closes; set the TV to birds (channel 3); flatten the ceiling fan. These daytime changes make the night room match the beach image and reveal the tape.

Play the tape, then follow the dirt trail toward the waterfall to find the regular Chameleon keypad. Rewind and pause the tape to read its code. This is not the Lost Key/window-lock secret for Ending C.

Questions I keep seeing

Is the tape the same as the VHS player?

No. You need both before the TV house does anything.
